Wesleyan University Office of Admission, Senior Interviewer (May 2001-May 2002): Selected out of a pool of over 100 to interview prospective students of the class of 2006.  Led information sessions, participated in recruitment fairs, drafted interview reports, answered questions from prospective students, and entered prospective student information into the admissions database.

DJ and Latin Music Director, WESU Middletown (88.1 FM) – Host of radio program, “Puro Sabor” (Fall 1999 – Spring 2002) (Co-Host, Fall 1998 - Spring 1999)

One semester studying modern Spanish politics, film, literature, dance, and included travel throughout the Iberian Peninsula.

UNIVERSITY AWARDS

Janina Montero Prize (2002): This prize is given each year by the Wesleyan Latino Alumni Council and Janina Montero to an outstanding Latino senior who has demonstrated academic excellence and who has been involved in the Latino community and in the Wesleyan community at large.  The individual exemplifies personal integrity, leadership, and motivation; a strong interest in and knowledge of his/her background; and has maintained a high level of commitment to Wesleyan’s academic and intellectual enterprise.

Rich Prize (2002): Awarded by the Department of Government to those seniors whose orations are judged best in composition and delivery.

​

Mann Prize (2002): Awarded to seniors showing the most outstanding achievements in Romance Languages.

​

Chadbourne Prize (1999): Awarded to that member of the first-year class outstanding in character, conduct, and scholarship.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

University of California, Berkeley  (Summer 2001): Public Policy and International Affairs Junior Summer Institute (UCPPIA): Selected by faculty and administrators of the Goldman School of Public Policy for a highly competitive program.  30 students were selected out of a pool of over 100 applicants.  Completed coursework in microeconomics, quantitative methods, and policy memo writing.

Edwin Gould Foundation for Children, SEO Career Program Intern, Philanthropy Program, New York, NY  (Summer 2000): Selected for a highly competitive internship program that exposes outstanding college students to the private and corporate non-profit sectors.  The internship was offered to 230 students out of a pool of over 2,000 applicants.  Researched and designed a curriculum for a Youth Advisory Board, with the purpose of educating high school students about the grantmaking process through academic courses and fieldwork.  Developed an evaluation tool for the philanthropy program to assess the quality and success of programs funded by the foundation.  Wrote daily correspondence to foundation and business leaders expressing the philanthropy program’s appreciation for their involvement in its weekly seminars.

United Stated Hispanic Leadership Institute, Intern - Community Organizing, Bronx, NY  (Summer 1999): Voter Registration and Education.  Registered over 700 voters in the New York City Area (targeting under-served communities). Interned for U.S. Representative José Serrano (Bronx, NY).

​

Office of United States Congressman José Serrano, Congressional Intern, Bronx, NY  (Summer 1999): Worked closely with the Congressman’s Special Counsel on Environmental Policy.  Assisted staff with various administrative duties.
